Some Regrets Don't Let You Sleep

It's been a while since everything happened, and tbh, I thought things would eventually get easier. I thought maybe after a few days, or a week, I'd start feeling a little better. But apparently, that's not how it works. I still think about her every single day. Sometimes it's just a random memory, something funny she used to say, or something that reminds me of the things we planned together. Other times, it's everything that happened between us, especially the things I did wrong. And honestly, those are the worst moments. Because I know I could've handled things differently. I could've been more honest, more careful with my decisions, and more considerate of someone who genuinely trusted me. But I wasn't. I let my own thoughts and emotions get the better of me, made stupid decisions, and ended up hurting someone I never wanted to hurt. And the worst part? I can't undo any of it.

I know I've apologized. More than once, actually. But I also understand that saying sorry doesn't automatically fix everything. It doesn't rebuild someone's trust, erase the pain, or change what already happened. She has every right to feel the way she does, and I can't blame her for that. What hurts me the most isn't just knowing that our relationship ended, but knowing that someone who once looked at me with love and trust might now remember me as someone who betrayed her. Someone she wishes she'd never trusted in the first place. That's something I never imagined becoming. I keep remembering the little things, our conversations, the late-night calls, the random updates, and all those moments when everything felt so simple. We talked about next year like it was something guaranteed. I really thought we'd make it there. But now all those plans are just memories of something that never happened. And sometimes I wonder whether she ever thinks about those moments too. Not because I expect her to come back, but because those memories still mean so much to me.

Lately, even my body has started feeling the weight of everything. I've been getting sick, feeling exhausted, and struggling to get proper rest. I lie down, close my eyes, and somehow my mind just starts replaying everything again. The conversations, the arguments, the things I said, the things I should've said, and all the decisions I wish I could take back. It's exhausting, really. I still have to wake up early, go to work, handle my responsibilities, and act like everything is normal. Sometimes I manage to laugh, talk to people, and get through the day just fine. But once everything gets quiet, it all comes back. And I hate that I can't seem to give myself a moment of peace. I know overthinking won't change anything, but knowing that doesn't magically make my thoughts stop. I guess that's what happens when you're still trying to process something you deeply regret.

I don't want to pretend that I'm the only person who suffered. I know she was hurt too, and I know some of that pain came directly from my own actions. I take responsibility for that. I'm not writing this to make anyone feel sorry for me, or to make my mistakes seem smaller because I'm struggling now. I just want to be honest about how I've been feeling. I genuinely regret what I did, and if there's one thing I wish I could change, it's the way I handled everything when my emotions were all over the place. I wish I'd stopped and thought about the consequences before making decisions that could hurt someone else. Maybe things would've been different. Or maybe they wouldn't. I guess I'll never know. But I don't want to keep making the same mistakes and calling them lessons afterward. I want to actually become better, not just say that I will.

And yeah, I still miss her. I miss having someone to tell about my day, someone to share the smallest things with, someone I thought would be part of my future. Sometimes I still wonder how she's doing, whether she's happy, whether life has been treating her better lately. I genuinely hope it has. I know I might never be part of her life again, and I have to learn to accept that. But accepting something and being okay with it are two completely different things. Right now, I'm still struggling with both. Maybe one day I'll be able to look back at everything without feeling this heavy regret in my chest. Maybe I'll finally get a proper night's sleep without replaying the past. And maybe I'll eventually learn how to forgive myself while still remembering what I did wrong.

For now, I don't really have a conclusion.

I'm still tired. I'm still figuring things out. And some days are harder than others.

I just hope that someday, when I look back at this part of my life, I can honestly say that I learned from everything I lost, instead of letting those mistakes become the only thing I remember about myself.
